Platini and Ribery

Although Ribery has retired from international football, but Platini warned him that he'll be banned for three matches if he doesn't play for France.

Ribery did not play for France in Brazil World Cup due to injury, and he announced his retirement in August, and he said that it's time for young players to take place in the team.
Platini said that it's not his decision nor the player's decision, but it's the manager's decision to choose who will play for the national team, and he said that Lahm didn't retire, but there was a problem between him and Joachim Low, so he excluded Lahm from Germany team.

For Ribery it's not the same situation, the coach called him to the national team and he has to accept this national duty.
